Reaction Steps

Manganese dioxide (5.37 g) was added at room temperature to a toluene (30 mL) solution of (2-chloro-6-cyclopropyl-2′,4′-difluoro-3-isopropoxybiphenyl-4-yl)methanol (2.18 g), and the mixture was stirred at 60 C for 1 hour in a nitrogen atmosphere. The solid was filtered off, and then, the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate) to obtain the title compound (1.67 g)
