To a solution of 2-({2-[(4-cyanophenyl)amino]-2-oxoethyl}sulfanyl)-N-(9-ethyl-9H-carbazol-3-yl)acetamide (55 mg, 0.12 mmol) in a mixed solvent of acetonitrile (4 mL) and water (2 mL) was added sodium periodate (29.2 mg, 0.14 mmol), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 days. Aqueous sodium thiosulfate solution was poured into the reaction mixture, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with aqueous sodium carbonate solution, and dried, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was purified by preparative HPLC to give the title compound (13 mg, 0.028 mmol, 23%) as a pale-yellow powder.
