Next, thionyl chloride (SOCl2) 2.4 g was added gradually to N,N-bis(trimethylsilyl)perfluorooctaneamide 12 g in the dry nitrogen atmosphere, which was allowed to react for two hours while being stirred. Then this was distilled and thereby sulfinylperfluorooctaneamide was obtained.
