Reaction Steps

To a solution of N-(6-((tert-butyldimethylsilyl)oxy)hexyl)cyclohexanamine (330 mg, 1.05 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (5 mL) at 0° C. was added 2-isocyanato-2-methylpropane (0.14 mL, 1.16 mmol). The mixture was stirred for 2 hours before it was quenched with methanol, and concentrated. Purification on silica gel with ethyl acetate: hexanes from 0:1 to 1:9 provided desired product as a clear oil (494.1 mg, 114%). 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): δ 4.11 (s, 1H), 3.99-3.84 (m, 1H), 3.56 (t, J=6.4 Hz, 2H), 2.92 (t, J=8.2 Hz, 2H), 1.80-0.94 (m, 18H), 0.85 (s, 9H), 0.05 (s, 6H).
