Reaction Steps

To a mixture of (5-(methoxymethoxy)pyridin-2-yl)methanol (8.12 g), imidazole (4.90 g) and DMF (50 mL) was added tert-butyldimethylchlorosilane (8.68 g), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate) to give the title compound (13.6 g).
