5-nitro-2-[(3,3,7-trimethyl-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-4-yl)oxy]pyrimidine (Intermediate 32, 243 mg, 0.81 mmol) was dissolved in THF (4 mL) and Palladium on charcoal (5 mol %, 85 mg) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred under hydrogen atmosphere (3 bar) for 1 hour at room temperature. The catalyst was filtered on a pad of celite, washed with THF and the resulting solution was concentrated under vacuum. The residue was diluted with ethyl acetate and water, the organic phase collected, dried over Na2SO4 and evaporated to afford the title compound (220 mg) as colorless oil. The crude product, was used in the next step without further purification.
