To a mixture of C7 (1.2 g, 2.9 mmol) and copper(I) cyanide (540 mg, 6.0 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (40 mL) were added tris(dibenzylideneacetone)dipalladium(0) (275 mg, 0.300 mmol) and 1,1′-binaphthalene-2,2′-diylbis(diphenylphosphane) (BINAP, 540 mg, 0.87 mmol). After the reaction mixture had been stirred at 110° C. for 18 hours, it was filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. Purification via silica gel chromatography (Gradient: 5% to 20% ethyl acetate in petroleum ether) afforded the product as a yellow solid. Yield: 380 mg, 1.2 mmol, 41%. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.27 (d, J=5.8 Hz, 1H), 7.80 (s, 1H), 7.43 (d, J=5.8 Hz, 1H), 5.52 (s, 2H), 3.47-3.54 (m, 2H), 0.88-0.95 (m, 2H), −0.02 (s, 9H).
