Reaction Steps

1-(Cyclopropylmethyl)-1H-benzotriazol-5-ol (5.41 g, 28.6 mmol) was dissolved in acetic acid (75 mL) and treated with N-iodosuccinimide (4.79 g, 21.3 mmol, 0.74 equiv) portionwise. After 15 minutes, the mixture was diluted with water (150 mL) and extracted with dichloromethane (2×100 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried with sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo, providing the titled compound.
