4-[1-(Cyclopropylmethyl)-4-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-benzotriazole-5-yl]benzyl methanesulfonate (185 mg, 0.435 mmol) was dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide, treated with sodium azide (141 mg, 2.17 mmol, 5 equiv) and placed into a preheated oil bath at 70° C. for 30 minutes. The mixture was cooled to ambient temperature, poured into water (150 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (2×100 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried with sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo, providing the titled compound.
