(S)-2-(3-Methyl-1-oxoisochroman-6-yl)acetaldehyde was prepared in a similar manner as (R)-2-(3-methyl-1-oxoisochroman-6-yl)acetaldehyde except starting from (3S)-6-bromo-3-methyl-3,4-dihydro-1H-isochromen-1-one.
