To a solution of methyl 3,5-diphenylpyridazine-4-carboxylate (300 mg, 1.03 mmol) in 1:1 MeOH:H2O (10 mL), KOH (576 mg, 10.28 mmol) was added and refluxed at 100° C. for 12 h. After the completion of starting material, the reaction mixture was diluted with water (5 mL×1) and washed with ethyl acetate (5 mL×1). The aqueous layer was acidified with 6N HCl (5 mL) solution, solid precipitated out. The solid was filtered and dried to furnish methyl 3, 5-diphenylpyridazine-4-carboxylic acid (compound 6) (275 mg, 96%) as a white solid.
