Reaction Steps
4-(2-Hydroxybenzoyl)-2,3-dichlorophenol was prepared by heating 4-(2-hydroxybenzoyl)-2,3-dichlorophenetole with 3 molar equivalents of aluminum chloride in methylene chloride for 16 hrs.; m.p. 200°-202° C.
