Procedure

4.6 g of 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-6-phenyl-imidazo[2,1-b]-1,3,4-thiadiazole (Example No. 28) are warmed to 150° C. in 75 ml of acetic anhydride for 1/2 an hour, excess acetic anhydride is evaporated off, the residue is stirred with water and the product is recrystallised from ethanol. 3.8 g, corresponding to 72% of theory, of colourless crystals of melting point 177° C. are obtained.
