Reaction Steps

A solution of compound 168 (4.5 g, 2.85 mmol) and NaIO4 (0.78 g, 3.66 mmol) in 1:1 THF/H2O (120 mL) was stirred at RT for 2 hrs. The solvent was evaporated under vacuum and the residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (CHCl3 /MeOH, 20:1→10:1) to give 1.31 g of the title compound as a white foam.
