Procedure
A solution of methyl 3-chloro-4-(3-(2-propyl-3-hydroxy-4-(1-hydroxyiminopropyl)phenoxy)propylthio)phenyl acetate (Step C; 5.96 grams) in acetic anhydride (50 mL) was stirred for 16 hours. The solvent was removed in vacuo. The remaining residue was dissolved in isopropyl acetate and washed with pH 7 buffer. The organic phase was dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and evaporated. The title compound was used without further purification.
