Hydrolysis ##STR42## tert-Butyl (2S)-1-[(1,4-dichloro-7-isoquinolinyl)sulfonyl]-2-pyrrolidinecarboxylate (50.0 g, 0.116 mol) was dissolved in conc. HCl (12 M, 200 ml) and stirred for 3.5 h. Water (200 ml) was added over 30 minutes and the resultant white precipitate stirred for a further 0.5 h, filtered and washed with water (3×100 ml). Drying under vacuum gave (2S)-1-[(1,4-dichloro-7-isoquinolinyl)sulfonyl]-2-pyrrolidinecarboxylic acid as a white solid (42.9 g, 0.114 mol).
