Procedure

Following general procedure H and using 4-[ethyl-(7-t-butyl-3,3-dimethyl-2,3-dihydro-benzofuran-5-yl)-amino]-benzoic acid ethyl ester (Compound 25, 0.09 g, 0.227 mmol) and 2.5 mL of 4M potassium hydroxide solution in 4 mL of ethanol, the title compound (0.065 g, 78%) was obtained as a pale yellow solid. 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): δ 7.89 (d, 2H, J=9.0 Hz), 6.87 (d, 1H, J=2.1 Hz), 6.78 (d, 1H, J=2.1 Hz), 6.58 (d, 2H, J=9.2 Hz), 4.28 (s, 2H), 3.74 (q, 2H, J=7.1 Hz), 1.36 (s, 9H), 1.33(s, 6H), 1.27 (t, 3H, J=7.1 Hz).
