Procedure
4'-Acetamido-2-hydroxyiminopropiophenone (1.87 g) was added to a suspension of thiosemicarbazide (1 g) and acetic acid (0.1 ml) in a mixture of methanol (15 ml) and water (3 ml) and then heated at 100° for 39 hours with stirring. After cooling, the resultant precipitates were collected by filtration, washed with methanol, and then dried to give 1.7 g of 4'-acetamido-2-hydroxyiminopropiophenone thiosemicarbazone.
