A solution of 4-(2,6-difluoro-3-nitrophenyl)pyridine (10.9 g) in ethanol (500 ml) was hydrogenated (at 50 p.s.i.) for 1 hour over 15 g of Raney Nickel The reaction mixture was then filtered through Supercel and the filtrate was evaporated in vacuo to give the product as a white solid of m.p. 190°-192° C. (6.6 g, 68% yield).
