Employing the general method of Example 6 above, 2.12 g (12.2 mmol) of 1-(3-pyridinyl)-3-butyne-1-one oxime were converted to the corresponding 1-methyl pyridinium iodide and subsequently reduced by the action of sodium borohydride to produce 1.2 g of 1-(1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-1-methyl-3-pyridinyl)-3-butyne-1-one oxime which was isolated as the ethanedioate salt, mp 55°-57° C.
