A solution of 1.0 g. of 2,6-dimethoxybenzoyl chloride and 1.1 g of 2-amino-5-(1,3-dithian-2-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole in 20 ml of toluene was heated at reflux for eighteen hours under a nitrogen atmosphere. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and the solvent was removed by evaporation under reduced pressure to provide a white solid. The solid was chromatographed over silica gel to provide 1.2 g (60% yield) of N-[5-(1,3-dithian-2-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2yl]-2,6-dimethoxybenzamide.
