The general McMurry coupling protocol, described for 14 was followed. Reaction of (4-bromophenyl)(4-hydroxyphenyl)methanone (2.77 g, 10 mmol), and cycloheptanone (3.6 mL, 30 mmol) afforded 2.795 g (78%) of the title compound 200 as an off-white solid. 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): δ 7.41 (d, J=8.1 Hz, 2H), 7.04 (d, J=6.3 Hz, 2H), 7.01 (d, J=6.3 Hz, 2H), 6.76 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 2H), 4.74 (s, 1H), 2.32 (m, 4H), 1.59 (s, 8H).
