5-Methoxy-2-methyl-1-[(2-pyridyl)methyl]-1H-indole-3-acetic acid hydrazide. Using the method described in Example 6, Part B, 480 mg (1.4 mmol) of 5-methoxy-2-methyl-1-[(2-pyridyl)methyl]-1H-indole-3-acetic acid ethyl ester was reacted with 1.4 mL of hydrazine to give on crystallization from MeOH 304 mg (67% yield) of 5-methoxy-2-methyl-1-[(2-pyridyl)methyl]-1H-indole-3-acetic acid hydrazide, mp, 147°-148° C.
