Procedure
Hydrazine was added to 151 mg (0.4 mmol) of 3-[[3-(2-amino-2-oxoethyl)-2-methyl-1-(phenylmethyl)-1H-indol-5-yl]amino]propanoic acid methyl ester in 5 mL of MeOH and the mixture heated at reflux for 1.0 hour and stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. After diluting with water, the mixture was extracted with EtOAc, the EtOAc solution washed with saturated NaCl solution, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated at reduced pressure.
