To the suspension of 2.09 g of (2R,4R)-3-(S-benzoyl-3-mercaptopropanoyl)-2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-4-thiazolidinecarboxylic acid, 0.51 g of N-methylmorpholine and 0.68 g of isobutyl chlorocarbonate in THF, the solution of 1.65 g of L-phenylalanine and 1.0 g of triethylamine is added, and the mixture is treated in the same manner as Example 10. The resulting residue is purified by silica gel column chromatography to give 2.0 g (71%) of the titled compound.
