953 mg of 5-(5-acetoxypyridin-2-yl)-3-(2-cyanophenyl)-1-phenyl-1,2-dihydropyridin-2-one and 192 mg of potassium carbonate were added to 50 ml of methanol, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The mixture was further incoporated with 50 ml of methanol, and stirred at 40° C. for 15 minutes. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, and filtered by silica gel. The filtrate was concentrated under a vacuum and washed with a ether/methanol-based solvent, to obtain 786 mg of the subject compound.
