A solution of (4S)-N-[(2S,3R)-2-methyl-3-hydroxy-5-trimethylsilyl-4-pentynoyl]-4-benzyl-2-oxazolidinone (0.13 g) in 3 mL of dimethylformamide was treated with 48% aqueous HF (2.6 uL) and KF.2H2O at ambient temperature for 100 min. Upon completion of the reaction, saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate was added to neutralize the HF, and the mixture was extracted three times with equal portions of ether. The organic extracts were combined, filtered, and dried over MgSO4. Filtration and evaporation gave the crude product, which was purified by silica gel chromatography (3:2 hexanes/ethyl acetate) to yield 64 mg of product.
