Reaction Steps

A solution of 5-(3-tert-butoxycarbonylamino-1-prop-1-ynyl)-thiophene-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester prepared of Preparation 5, Step A (2.06 g) and 10% Pd/C (1.03 g) in 50 mL MeOH was hydrogenated on a Parr shaker at 50 psi H2 for 16 h. The reaction was filtered through Celite® with the aid of MeOH and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound of Step B as a solid (1.93 g). MS 317 (M+18).
