Reaction Steps
The title compound was prepared (as described above for Intermediate 16) from 2.42 g of 4′-isopropoxyacetophenone and 2.65 mL of EtOAc to yield 2.25 grams of Intermediate 29: TLC analysis: Rf=0.73 (2/1, hexanes/EtOAc); 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3, enol form) δ7.84 (d, 2H, J=8.9), 6.9 (d, 2H, J=9.0), 6.1 (s, 1H), 4.62 (hept, 1H, J=6.0), 2.16 (s, 3H), 1.36 (d, 6H, J=6.0).
