Following the procedure for the one-pot synthesis of 5-(2-phenylquinolin-7-yl)-thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-ylamine from 1-(2-phenylquinolin-7-yl)-ethanone, but using ethyl cyanoacetate instead of malononitrile, the title compound was obtained as brown solid. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 400 MHz): δ=7.38 (s, 1H), 7.45-7.56 (m, 3H), 7.76-7.79 (dd, 1H, J=1.6 & 8.4 Hz), 7.86-7.91 (m, 2H), 7.98 (s, 1H), 8.15-8.18 (m, 2H), 8.25-8.27 (d, 1H, J=8.8 Hz), 8.34 (d, 1H, J=2.0 Hz). MS (ES+): 356.2 [MH+]. HPLC: tR=4.3 min (MicromassZQ, polar—15 min).
