1.3 g of the title compound (as a tan amorphous powder) was prepared from 2 g (5.62 mmol) of 3-methyl-4-[2-(1-piperidinyl)ethoxy]-5-t-butylbenzoic acid, 1.5 g (5.6 mmol) of 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-methoxybenzo[b]thiophene, and 5.25 g (39.3 mmol) of AlCl3 in a manner similar to that used Preparation 15.
