To 2.94 g of 40% aqueous chloroacetaldehyde solution was added 2.94 g of O-(3,3-dichloro-2-propenyl)hydroxylamine hydrochloride with stirring at room temperature. After stirring at room temperature for 2 hours, the reaction mixture was extracted twice with diethyl ether. The diethyl ether layers were combined, washed with water, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated, which afforded 1.94 g (yield, 96%) of chloroacetaldehyde O-(3,3-dichloro-2-propenyl)oxime, nD23.2 1.5038.
