Employing the procedure of Example 1, and starting with 500 mg. (2.16 mmoles) of 2,2-dimethyl-5-ethyl-6-oxo-2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-furo[2,3-f]indole and 0.34 ml. (2.99 mmoles) of 4-fluorophenylisocyanate, 493 mg. (62% yield) of N-(4-fluorophenyl)-2,2-dimethyl-5-ethyl-6-oxo-2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-furo[2,3-f]indole-7-carboxamide (2, R1 =C2H5, R2 =4-fluorophenyl, R3 and R4 =CH3, and n=1) m.p. 160°-162° C., was obtained.
