Reaction Steps

In 50 ml of toluene containing 10 g of trimethylamine is dissolved 5.4 g of 3-mesyloxypropyl 2-methoxy-3-(12-cyclohexyldodecyloxy)propyl sulfone, and the mixture is stirred at room temperature for 5 days. The reaction mixture is then concentrated to dryness and the residue is purified by silica gel column chromatography to obtain 3.17 g of the captioned compound.
