Procedure
0.034 mole (7.5 g) of 2,4-dichloro-6-methylaminonitrobenzene is added to 100 ml of a 28% solution of ammonia in water and 50 ml of ethanol in an autoclave. The reaction medium is heated for 12 hours at 145°-150° C., the pressure being 12 kg/cm2. The product expected precipitates from the reaction medium on cooling. After draining and re-impasting in water, it is dried by heating under vacuum in the presence of phosphorous pentoxide. Recrystallized from isopropanol, it melts at 129° C.
