Procedure

A solution of citric acid (92 mg) in methanol (3 ml) was added to a suspension of (2β,3α,5α,11β)-3,11-dihydroxy-2-(2,2-dimethyl-4-morpholinyl)pregnan-20-one (213 mg) in methanol (2 ml). The resulting solution was taken to dryness under reduced pressure to give (2β,3α,5α,11β)-3,11-dihydroxy-2-(2,2-dimethyl-4-morpholinyl)pregnan-20-one 2-hydroxy-1,2,3-propanetricarboxylate (1:1) salt. [α]D +119° (c 0.3).
