Using an analogous procedure to that described in Example 1, methyl 3-{[2-amino-5-(4-isopropylpiperazin-1-yl)benzoyl]amino}-4-methylbenzoate was reacted with triethylorthoformate to give methyl 4-methyl-3-[6-(4 isopropylpiperazin-1-yl)-4-oxoquinazolin-3(4H)-yl]benzoate; NMR Spectrum: (DMSOd6) 1.00 (d, 6H), 2.15 (s, 3H), 2.59 (m, 4H), 2.68 (m, 1H), 3.24 (m, 4H), 3.85 (s, 3H), 7.45 (d, 1H), 7.60 (m, 3H), 7.95 (m, 1H), 8.00 (m, 1H), 8.05 (d, 1H); Mass Spectrum: M+H+ 421.
