Reaction Steps

A suspension of N-{5-[(cyclopropylamino)carbonyl]-2-methylphenyl}-4-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)-2-nitrobenzamide (0.23 g) and 10% palladium on carbon (0.04 g) in ethanol (30 ml) was agitated under a hydrogen atmosphere for 16 hours. The reaction mixture was filtered through diatomaceous earth (Celite®) and the filtrate evaporated to dryness to give the title compound as a glass (0.16 g); NMR Spectrum: (DMSOd6) 0.57 (m, 2H), 0.68 (m, 2H), 2.22 (s, 3H), 2.24 (s, 3H), 2.43 (m, 4H), 2.85 (m, 1H), 3.19 (m, 4H), 6.18 (s, 1H), 6.25 (m, 1H), 6.44 (s, 2H), 7.30 (d, 1H), 7.59 (m, 1H), 7.64 (d, 1H), 7.76 (s, 1H), 8.35 (d, 1H), 9.37 (s, 1H); Mass Spectrum: M+H+ 408.
