4-[3-Methyl-5-(2-phenylethyl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]pyridine 4-(3-Methyl-5-(2-phenylethenyl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)pyridine (Example 1) (0.177 g, 0.67 mmol) was hydrogenated (5-30 psi) in MeOH in the presence of a catalytic amount of 4% Pd/C at RT for 12 hours. The resulting mixture was filtered and the resulting solution was concentrated to give 4-(3-methyl-5-phenylethyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)pyridine quantitatively: MS (M+H+) 264 (100%).
