Procedure
4-Bromo-2-chlorobenzoic acid (1.00 g, 4.25 mmol) was added to a solution of acetyl chloride (1.70 mL, 23.9 mmol) in methanol (30 mL). The mixture was allowed to stir at rt for 3 days, and was then concentrated in vacuo. This gave 0.84 g (80%) of the title compound. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CD2Cl2) δ 3.85 (s, 3H), 7.51 (d, 1H), 7.45 (d, 1H), 7.78 (d, 1H).
