Reaction Steps
D-Leucine (3.00 g, 22.9 mmol) was added to a solution of acetyl chloride (1.70 mL, 23.9 mmol) in methanol (30 mL). The reaction mixture was allowed to stir for 18 h and then concentrated under reduced pressure. This yielded 3.8 g (91%) of the title compound. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CD3OD) δ 0.99 (dd, 6H), 1.63-1.87 (m, 3H), 4.10 (dd, 1H), 3.81 (s, 3H).
