Procedure

A solution of 3-nitro-5,7-dihydrospiro[cyclopenta[b]pyridine-6,2′-pyrido[3,2-b][1,4]oxazin]-3′(4′H)-one from Step D (450 mg, 1.5 mmol) in toluene (3 mL) is treated with Lawesson's reagent (650 mg, 1.6 mmol) and the mixture heated at reflux for several hours. The solvent is removed in vacuo and the residue is purified by silica gel chromatography (gradient elution with 0-10% MeOH in CH2Cl2) to afford the title compound.
