Procedure
The product of Procedure 76, 2.26 g. is suspended in a solution of about 6 g. of ammonia in 100 ml. of ethanol. Further anhydrous ammonia was added to yield a substantially saturated solution. The mixture was then placed in a pressure apparatus and heated at 100° overnight with agitation. The container was cooled to room temperature, opened, and the supernatent liquid decanted from the yellow solid. The precipitated solid and the residue obtained on evaporation of the supernatant liquid proved to be identical by infrared and thin-layer chromatography. They were combined and recrystallized from DMF, recovered as the hydrate containing 1/4 mole water of hydration, m.p. 296°-299°.
