Procedure

(±)-tert-Butyl 2-hydroxy-1-(3-(phenylethynyl)phenyl)ethylcarbamate was prepared identically to the procedure describing the preparation of (S)-tert-butyl 2-hydroxy-1-(3-(phenylethynyl)phenyl)ethylcarbamate except that an equimolar mixture of (DHQ)2PHAL and (DHQD)2PHAL was used.
