Procedure

(3aR,4S,6aS)-4-Azido-2-benzyloctahydrocyclopenta[c]pyrrole (1.70 g, 7.02 mmol), Raney®-nickel (0.46 g, 20% wt), and ethanol (47 mL) were combined in a Parr stirrer reactor. The reactor was pressured with hydrogen gas to 30 psi and the reaction mixture was agitated for 24 hours. The slurry was filtered to provide (3aR,4S,6aS)-2-benzyloctahydrocyclopenta[c]pyrrol-4-amine in ethanol.
