A mixture of (6-fluoro-3-methyl-4-piperidin-4-yl-naphthalen-2-yl)-acetic acid methyl ester trifluoroacetate salt (50 mg, 0.116 mmol) in saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate (10 mL) was stirred at room temperature for several minutes. The resulting solution was extracted with ethyl acetate (2×15 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated to afford (6-fluoro-3-methyl-4-piperidin-4-yl-naphthalen-2-yl)-acetic acid methyl ester (36 mg, 97%).
