Procedure
To a solution of Phenylmethyl 4-{[7-[(4-fluorophenyl)methyl]-4-hydroxy-3-({[2-(methyloxy)ethyl]amino}carbonyl)-2-oxo-1,5-naphthyridin-1(2H)-yl]methyl}-1-piperidinecarboxylate (18 mg, 0.03 mmol) in methanol (3 mL) was added palladium on carbon (10 wt %, 18 mg). Hydrogen was bubbled through the reaction mixture for several minutes and then the atmosphere was maintained with a balloon of hydrogen until the reaction was judged complete by LC/MS. The resultant suspension was filtered through a pad of Celite. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (10 mg, 71%) as a white solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 10.23 (m, 1 H), 8.48 (s, 1 H), 7.36 (s, 1 H), 7.14 (dd, J=8.4, 5.4 Hz, 2 H), 6.99 (t, J=8.6 Hz, 2 H), 4.09 (s, 2 H), 4.02 (m, 2 H), 3.57 (m, 2 H), 3.53 (m, 2 H), 3.35 (s, 3 H), 3.14 (m, 2 H), 2.52 (m, 2 H), 1.78 (m, 1 H), 1.56-1.39 (m, 4 H); HRMS m/z calcd for C25H30N4O4F (M+H)+ 469.2251, found 469.2252.
