Reaction Steps
In a 500 ml three-necked flask, 20 g of 2,4-bis(benzyloxy)-1-bromobenzene are dissolved in 240 ml of tetrahydrofuran. The mixture is cooled to −70° C. and then 26 ml of 2.5M n-butyllithium in hexane are added. The reaction medium is stirred at −70° C. for 1 hour, and then 11.1 g of 4-oxo-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid ethyl ester are added dropwise. The reaction medium is stirred at −70° C. for 2 hours and then left at ambient temperature overnight. The reaction medium is poured into 100 ml of a 2M solution of hydrochloric acid and then extracted with 400 ml of ethyl acetate. The organic phases are combined, washed with 150 ml of water and then dried over magnesium sulphate and evaporated.
