Reaction Steps
241 mg (1.74 mmol, 3 eq) of potassium carbonate (325 mesh) are added to a solution of 181 mg (0.58 mmol, 1 eq) of 4-(5-fluoro-2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester in 3 ml of acetone. 152 μl (1.28 mmol, 2.2 eq) of benzyl bromide are added dropwise. The reaction medium is heated at 50° C. for 20 hours. The solvent is evaporated off and then the residue is taken up with a water/ethyl acetate mixture. The aqueous phase is extracted with ethyl acetate, and the organic phases are combined, washed with a solution of sodium hydrogen carbonate and then with a saturated solution of sodium chloride, dried over magnesium sulphate, filtered and evaporated. The residue is chromatographed on silica gel, elution being carried out with 85/15 heptane/ethyl acetate.
