A mixture of N-(1-methyl-2-oxo-2-phenylethyl)-4-(phenylmethyl)-2-morpholinecarboxamide (1.3 g, 3.69 mmol) and ammonium trifluoroacetate (2.417 g, 18.44 mmol) was stirred for 0.75 hours at 150° C. The LCMS indicated that the starting material was consumed. The desired product was contained in the residue. Water (150 mL) was added to the residue, and the resulting mixture was extracted with EtOAc (3×100 mL). The organics were dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and evaporated to afford the title compound (1.2 g) as a brown oil. LC-MS (ES) m/z=334 [M+H]+.
